A lock of plaited blonde colored hair was carefully preserved in this sentimental antique Victorian hairwork brooch, set in 14K gold, circa 1850s.

The lovely "memento mori" pin is oval in shape and consists of unmarked yellow gold with decorative rope framing of gold and black enameling, and swirl of braided and loose dirty blonde colored hair beneath a glass oval.

It measures approximately 1&1/2 inches wide by 1&1/8 inches top to bottom, has a tube hinge with extended pin stem and c-catch, and weighs 9.4 grams.
